The Impostor rules
The Impostor is the perfect bluffing game to kick off a party. The phone goes around and everyone sees their word in secret: "pizza" for almost everyone, "burger" for the Impostor. The catch? The Impostor doesn't know they're the Impostor.
Everyone gives a clue without giving their word away, then the group votes. Too precise, and you help the Impostor. Too vague, and you're the one under suspicion. Add the Ghost (no word at all) and things get zinzin fast.
An example round
You all have "Pizza", but Inès has "Burger" without knowing. Clues: "oven", "cheese"… and Inès goes "ketchup?". Silence. Everyone stares at her. Vote!
3 to 12 players · a single phone · offline
- 1Pass the phone: everyone reads their word in secret. The Impostor's word is close… and they don't know they're the Impostor!
- 2In the order shown, everyone says ONE clue word out loud, never the word itself
- 3Then agree together and vote out a suspect: their role is revealed
- 4From 5 players, the Ghost gets no word: they bluff. If voted out, they win alone by guessing the civilians' word
- 5Optional Jester: has the civilians' word but wins alone if voted out
- 6Civilians win once every impostor (Impostor and Ghost) is out; impostors win if they become as many as everyone else. Points add up from one rematch to the next
